After completing his training, Mr Daya was on faculty at the Catholic Medical Centre and in practice on Madison Avenue, New York. In 1993 he returned to the United Kingdom and was appointed as Director and Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon of the Corneo Plastic Unit and Eye Bank at the Queen Victoria Hospital NHS Trust, East Grinstead. |
| |
|
In 1995 Mr Daya became one of the first to perform the laser vision correction procedure, LASIK, in the UK. As popularity in refractive surgery increased, he felt compelled to establish a “centre for excellence” intended to provide patients with the best possible medical and surgical eye care. While he anticipated refractive surgery (surgery to correct shortsight, farsight and astigmatism) would be the most popular procedure, it was important to him that the centre became a leading authority in any matter concerning the cornea or front of the eye. |

|
In 1996 Centre for Sight was created. Under the expertise and leadership of Mr Daya, his fellow consultants, technicians, nurses and staff, fast fulfilled the dream and Centre for Sight now has a strong reputation for providing a first class service and the utmost in preoperative and postoperative care. In fact the centre has exceeded his expectations by become an international source of expertise for many extreme and unusual conditions. The practices of Centre for Sight are regularly used as training for other surgeons and nurses throughout the country.
Mr Daya is regularly invited to speak at numerous international meetings and lectures on the Cornea, Stem cell transplantation, LASIK and other Refractive surgery techniques. He has also developed instrumentation for LASIK and other corneal procedures that are in regular use worldwide.
Centre for Sight continues to lead the UK in advances in technology and eye care. As the first to offer Zyoptix, Iris Recognition and the safer and more accurate blade-free version of LASIK using the Intralase laser (IntraLASIK), their expertise is second to none.
With a surgical base within the Queen Victoria Hospital, and full consultation and diagnostic facilities within the Harley Street enclave, all Centre for Sight patients can be assured that their vision will receive the best possible care and opportunities.
