Nicola Hall
ICL

I have been a patient of Mr Daya for over 17 years, having been diagnosed with Keratoconus in both eyes at the age of 20.

Due to the severity of my condition I underwent a corneal transplant in my left eye shortly after diagnosis, which was performed by Mr Daya and his team at the Queen Victoria hospital in East Grinstead. Then followed Lasik surgery, a wedge re-section, 5 years of hard, almost intolerable contact lenses, until Mr Daya told me four months ago that my condition had stabilised, technology had advanced and that I was able to have IOL Implantable Lenses in both eyes.

The news that I could have the surgery was a life changing moment in itself as a long distant dream of being able to see, was to going be realised.

Six weeks after surgery it is actually very emotional to type this testimonial as looking at the screen now, I can't actually believe what I can see. My condition and history are far from the average IOL patient and whilst I may end up wearing glasses (with a very weak prescription) for driving, my vision is absolutely amazing. The procedure has completely changed my life.

Over the years I have seen many changes at Centre for Sight. Mr Daya having started his clinic on a ward at the Queen Victoria Hospital, to the most sophisticated consultation rooms at Queen Anne Street and now, a purpose built, state of the art hospital in East Grinstead. I feel very truly grateful to have been referred to Mr Daya 17 years ago and I cannot thank him and his team enough for the care and treatment they have given me over the years.

I would not hesitate to recommend Centre for Sight for any type of eye surgery. They are an amazing team with the utmost commitment to patient care, professionalism and of course, fantastic results.

After 42 years of very poor sight ,11 tortureous years of thick glasses and 26 years of wearing hard contact lenses i decided the time had come for a radical change. After a 2 year secondment to the middle east and many days and nights spent in the desert my mind was made up it was time to look at my options. I contacted Centre for Sight after trawling the internet and decided to go to a seminar.

I was very impressed with the whole set up and booked myself in for a consultation with Mr Sheraz Dayer. After my consultation which revealed that I was not a suitable candidate for laser surgery I was given the option of ICL and spent some time reading the literature provided. At first this sounded like a very invasive step but after some thought I decided to go ahead with this option.

I initially had one eye done, my worst eye and can only describe the outcome as truly amazing. It was absolutely pain free and I was able to read a letter chart down to the bottom for the first time in my whole life. All this was done in a very short time most of the day was spent having drops inserted into my eye the actual operation lasted fifteen minutes or so.

I was advised to leave my other eye for a period of six months to make sure there were no problems with the first one of which there were none. I had my second eye operated on in exactly the same way and had exactly the same fantastic results.

My eyes have now been subjected to the ultimate tests 1 Month living in the Belizian Jungle and 2 Months on operations in Afganistan, I have had no problems with the elements in either jungle or desert suroundings, with the worry of loss of lenses totally eradicated not to mention the 20/20 Vision.

It has now been a year since my initial operation and I have had a yearly checkup which went very well and my eyes have given me no problems ever since.

My only regret is that I did not have this treatment much earlier in my life. Thank you to Mr Sheraz Daya and his professional medical support team for this life changing experience.

Pamela Anderson

As a contact lens wearer from the age of 13, I had been researching vision correction for many years but had always been considered unsuitable due to my high prescription among other factors. In the early days of my research Mr Daya had been recommended to me by my Optician who described him as “the man who fixes everyone else’s mistakes”, words that were proved to be very true as I sat listening to one of Mr Daya’s corneal graft patients story a day after his surgery following a failed Lasik procedure some years ago. I feel very privileged and lucky to live within 30 minutes travel of Centre for Sight East Grinstead!

I had 2 Lasik assessments at Centre for Sight 4 years apart and during my most recent assessment ICL performed by Mr Daya was offered as an alternative. I agreed to the treatment immediately, deciding that life was too short to be worrying about how to pay for it until later! I felt reassured that despite the explained risks, this was a reversible procedure that did not involve any permanent tissue loss.

The procedure itself was painless and the experience at the McIndoe Centre where my surgery was performed was fantastic! My left eye was treated first and the right eye one week later, with a check-up the morning after surgery. Within half an hour of surgery my vision in my left eye was 20/20 and my right 20/16! So a fabulous result! The worst part was having to wait a week between surgeries, the eye drops and eye guard at night routine was easy to follow!

A 6 weekly check revealed that my sight remains 20/20 an 20/16 and I still can’t believe that I can see the clock when I wake up in the mornings and I hope this is a “gift” I never take for granted. My eyes have never looked clearer and whiter and have been comfortable and pain free from the outset! I am still looking forward to a lot of new experiences “post contact lenses” that I just know are going to be enjoyed and different and I can’t thank Mr Daya enough for this miracle! I can now see better than most of my family and my vision is a lot clearer than it ever was with contact lenses.

Tom McLeish
ICL

My eye sight started to deteriorate rapidly from around the age of 8 and by the time I was in my late teens I was already minus 12. So by the time I had my first pay slip I treated myself to contact lens.

Over the years I started to see colleagues having laser treatment and hearing them talk about how good the service had been was very intriguing to me. However it was not until a good friend of mine who had similar vision as myself decided to have treatment at Centre for Sight I was then really interested to see if I was a suitable candidate.

So having plucked up the courage I booked myself an appointment and after taking part in a number of tests it was apparent that ICL was going to offer me far better results than traditional laser treatment. So after being reassured by Mr Daya himself that he would perform the operation I agreed to the treatment.

Having now had the treatment I still find it strange going to bed and not having to take out lens and still having the ability to see the digital clock clearly the other strange feeling is waking up in the morning and not having to struggle to find glasses.

Would I recommend centre for sight – yes without a doubt you are treated as an individual by the whole team and the good thing is they are always there to answer any question you may have.

Terri McConnell
ICL

Ever since I can remember I have had to wear glasses. I have had to wear them since I was about 5 years old, I am now 25. My sight was quite bad, to be able to see something without my glasses it could be no more than a couple of inches away from my face. And because I was so short sighted, I was only able to wear hard contact lenses. Having tried them many times, I found them very uncomfortable and couldn’t get on with them so this was never an option for me.

To be able to see without glasses is absolutely amazing, it is something I never thought I would be able to do. To wake up in the morning and not have to feel around to find my glasses is great! To go swimming and actually be able to see is also an amazing experience for me.

At first I was very nervous about the surgery, but all the staff at the Centre for Sight and the McIndoe Surgical Centre were very friendly and made me feel completely at ease. I now have 20/20 vision. I couldn’t have asked for more! I will be forever grateful to Mr Daya and all his staff for giving me my sight back!

I would certainly recommend this surgery to anyone who is considering it!
