My big day? Monday 31st November 2009. That’s the day my life changed for me. Thanks to Saj Khan for giving me my new eyes!

After eight years of wearing my contact lenses over 14 hours a day (not advisable at all!), Saj made me realise this was not how I should be looking after my eyes – especially being an orthoptist – I should know to be more careful. Having laser treatment was never an option for me – I was just too scared so never thought about it enough; but after a few chats, and a visit to the London clinic with my parents, hearing the words “it’ll take just a few minutes. You’re young at 25 years and you’re a great candidate for laser treatment…..” I left with a huge smile on my face.

I know everyone worries about dry eyes and using artificial tears after laser but for me that was not an issue as I was using these anyway. The thought of opening my eyes in the morning and being able to see with no aids was a dream about to come true!

Everyone at Centre for Sight has been amazing – ALWAYS cheerful, and always quick to erase any worries. Within a few minutes, it was all over and by the next day I was jumping up and down with my vision two whole lines better than 20/20! I was so ecstatic with my new eyes that I had no problem wearing the goggles that you get post op – and believe me I wore them with a smile everywhere I went!

No more contact lenses or glasses for me! A humungous thank you to Centre for Sight, and to Saj Khan – my friend and now my surgeon!

The world is a different place this morning - everything is back in focus and I am typing this without glasses. I automatically put them on and everything blurred out - amazing!

Your staff at both Queen Anne Street and East Grinstead were professional, attentive and a credit to your practice. As soon as I met you I realised that I was in a safe pair hands.

The procedure was quick and painless and I have not felt any discomfort. The challenge will be to remember that I have undergone surgery so that I can complete the after care!

As a small child I had my eyes patched and from the age of 5 had to wear very strong long-sighted glasses every day, with a prescription of plus 6.

At the age of 12 I was so self-conscious of these thick, very magnifying glasses that I decided it was better to wear nothing on my eyes and cope with my blurred vision than wear such ugly glasses.

In my teens I tried lenses, which I found a real hassle and couldn’t get on with and then the last pair of glasses I actually purchased was in 1998. I paid £250 alone for the lenses so they would be extra thin, but they still magnified my eyes drastically and made me look strange. My prescription was also so strong after not wearing glasses for so many years that they had to give me plus 3 glasses in order to not make me feel disorientated. I really only wore them at home in private, very occasionally.

I went for an eye test at my local optician over a year ago, she told me that I had been very lucky getting away with everyday life with such a severe prescription and that my eyes had deteriorated since my last eye test a few years previous, so I had to make a decision about glasses, lenses or laser treatment. She recommended the Centre for Sight to me, she said that in her opinion you only get one set of eyes and that “high-street” places offering this treatment may not be ideal, she also said that she knew of Ophthalmic Surgeons who, themselves, had had surgery at the Centre for Sight, which spoke volumes to me.

I contacted the Centre for Sight and booked a full consultation with Mr Khan in London in October 2009; I was impressed with how thorough the examinations were and how advanced the science supporting the whole procedure was. I was once a student nurse so I have an enquiring mind when it comes to medical-related issues, and I was very impressed with Mr Khan’s straight-talking with me, he never hesitated, even when I asked the most unpleasant of questions about the procedure.

At the beginning of 2010 I decided that I was going to change my life, and go back into full-time education as from September 2010, this was my main reason for having my vision corrected as I have struggled for years with close reading and studying. As soon as my property was sold I booked an additional consultation and my surgery date.

As usual I had total confidence in Mr Khan and his team, everything was explained to me, all questions were answered and on 30 June 2010 I had my vision corrected.

Words cannot describe my elation at going back the next day and being told that I had 20/20 vision. Little things that people with good eyes take for granted like being able to read text messages, painting my toenails, seeing street signs mesmerised me. The adjustment is instant, I thought it may feel strange but your brain adapts instantly. It’s such a good feeling to know that I can now rely on my eyes, and this is all thanks to Mr Khan. I would recommend anyone considering this surgery to go along for a consultation, it is mind-blowing and life changing!

Laser eye surgery was something I had thought about doing for some time but when I finally got around to arranging a consultation, I became quite nervous about it.

When I arrived at Centre for Sight for the consultation I immediately felt at ease as the team and Mr. Khan were so professional. They were incredibly thorough with the amount of tests

they did, all of which were specific to your eyes.

When discussing the procedure with Mr. Khan it certainly made me realise that I made the right decision to go to a specialist rather than a high street name.

Of course I was nervous on the day I went to have the surgery, but still felt I was in safe hands! They gave me all the instructions I needed to follow over the next six weeks and booked me in to see Mr. Khan a few days after the operation and again five weeks later. Each time they did some more tests to ensure the surgery went well and the treatment was working.

I can only give praise to Mr. Khan and his team.

This was a procedure that I had thought about very carefully as well as researched. Acquaintances have had laser surgery elsewhere but I can honestly say I would not have considered having this surgery anywhere else but at the Centre for Sight under the care of Mr Khan.

Both during the consultation and on the day of surgery itself, Mr Khan explained all steps of the procedure and was very reassuring.

Two days after surgery I am amazed and delighted at how little discomfort there has been, and have just been assessed with better than 20/20 vision.

I should like to thank Mr Khan and his team for how professionally and efficiently all aspects of surgery, and both pre and post-care have been carried out.

I found from the age of 17 short sightedness creeping up on me, from needing glasses to drive, to be able to watch television, and eventually to be able to read a computer screen clearly. Going out wasn't much better, as I had real trouble with contact lenses, finding them a nightmare to put in!

So, after many years disappointed with my standard of sight, I decided to undergo laser surgery. Then came the daunting task of researching and understanding it fully, choosing the best place to go, which procedure to have done, and many other important questions. It became startlingly clear from the outset the only place to go - Centre For Sight.

From the outset the staff were polite, helpful and extremely professional, and were happy to answer any question or query I had about the whole process. The surgery itself took no time at all and I felt no pain or discomfort - I felt perfectly relaxed knowing Mr. Daya is a highly respected leader in his field with a reputation beyond parallel and the best team in the business.

The next morning, I was totally amazed to wake up with better than perfect vision (20/10, to be precise). Looking out the window at the flowers in bloom and the leaves swaying in the wind in perfect detail was absolutely incredible, knowing this was how vision was meant to be.

Everyone says it’s the best money they ever spent. I'm proud to be one of those people.

It's now three months since my surgery. I have stopped my ritual of searching for my -6 spectacles upon walking in the morning. Little things still remind me of how right the choice was to have laser surgery. For example, I still marvel at seeing the bathroom floor tiles when having my morning shower. Foggy glasses are no longer a source of outdoor irritation. New found freedom to explore activities such as skiiing without worrying what will happen to my glasses has given me a whole new visual experience. Once again thank you Mr Daya and Centre for Sight!

Having become shortsighted whilst at university, I had been aware of the possibility laser eye surgery for some time. However, I had always been slightly uneasy about the risks and cost involved, but after another holiday spoiled by contact lens problems - dry eyes and lenses lost in the pool - I decided had to find out more!

After speaking with my father (a consultant ophthalmologist), he recommended that I have a consultation with Mr Daya to get an expert opinion on whether laser eye surgery was right for me. I spent a morning in the London clinic that proved very reassuring. Mr Daya and his team answered all of my concerns, in particular the likelihood of experiencing dry eyes and/or glare. The scans revealed that I was low risk, and being 25, I stood the chance of not needing to wear glasses for the next 25 years!

The operation itself was extremely quick and painless - both eyes were done in about ten minutes. When I was tested two days later, I could read one line better than 20:20! The whole thing really is fairly magical. No more groping for glasses in the morning, not being able to see in the rain, contact lenses drying out in the evening etc! It really makes life more enjoyable, and my sight is better than it ever was with glasses/lenses!

If the only thing holding you back from laser eye surgery is fear of the operation itself, then please don't let it stop you! It's so quick and easy, and it genuinely transforms your life!

When choosing laser vision correction (LVC), there are many issues that need to be addressed. Which technique should one choose? Which combination of Excimer and Femtosecond laser should one choose? Which treatment algorithm will best treat one’s own refractive error? ….. and most importantly, who are you going to entrust your most valuable sense to?

As an ophthalmic surgeon practicing LVC these choices are not difficult to make. If one believes one’s own clinic offers current state of the art surgery, one seeks a clinic with matching laser systems. Moreover, one should choose a peer respected surgeon with vast experience in corneal refractive surgery. Seeking this combination of clinical expertise I have journeyed from Oslo, Norway to East Grinstead and the Centre for Sight where I was scheduled for surgery under Mr Daya’s care on the 2nd of November 2009.

From the minute I entered Mr Daya’s newly opened clinic I was met with the same courteous professionalism that I had seen given to private and public patients alike at his clinic’s previous location. Needless to say my surgery was uneventful. The sensation of pressure under the Intralase® was negligible and I felt nothing during the actual laser treatment using the Technolas Perfect Vision laser. I know that my positive experience in switching roles from surgeon to patient will benefit my own patients and yes, I have already recommended the procedure to other colleagues. Thank you Mr Daya and all of the staff at the Centre for Sight for your continual dedication to excellence in patient care.

II felt privileged to be one of the first patients to be treated for laser correction at Centre for Sight's fantastic new state of the art premises on the outskirts of East Grinstead in mid-October 2009. I had attended a Centre for Sight evening seminar earlier in the summer which provided me with the information I needed to make an informed decision to go ahead with the procedure and following a thorough eye examination and consultation with the surgeon, Mr Daya, I was approved for IntraLASIK Aspheric Wavefront Zyoptix surgery.

It was a great comfort knowing I was being treated using the most advanced laser technology available and by a surgeon with an enviable reputation. In addition, the highly professional, dedicated and helpful staff meant the care I received was second to none.

I opened my eyes as little as possible for the remainder of the day following the procedure and it was therefore with great delight, and an almost miraculous feeling, that when I awoke the following morning I could see clearly without the need for any visual aids. Being short-sighted (R: -5.75 / L: -6.75) I had previously been a contact lens wearer for almost 20 years and the morning routine always involved scrabbling around for some glasses in order to read the alarm clock before making my way to the bathroom to put my lenses in. In an instant this had become a thing of the past and I am delighted with the results - already my vision using both eyes is better than 20/20.

A week after surgery I was enjoying a family walking holiday in the Lake District - nothing too strenuous but certainly able to get out and enjoy the views with my 'new' vision.

One of my main reasons for choosing to have the treatment was so that I could enjoy outdoor activities without the inconvenience of wearing contact lenses and I am really looking forward to the new found freedom this will allow me.

If you’re reading this, my guess is that you’re surfing the net comparing laser eye surgery clinics. I did too. I even booked a consultation with one company, but then looked a little closer (if you’ll pardon the short-sighted pun!) and felt somewhat suspicious of the ‘buy one, get one free’ approach. I cancelled it when I found Centre For Sight in East Grinstead.

It’s a well-worn phrase but to say it was one of the best things I’ve ever done is not overstating it. As a police officer I was anxious that I would still be able to perform my job, even though I’d managed to get by for fifteen years with contact lenses and spectacles, correcting my -3.25 myopia and poor astigmatism. I shouldn’t have worried for one moment. The day after surgery I returned for my first check up and was astounded to learn I had 20/20 vision. It is life-changing. My vision is absolutely clear, especially at night, whereas before I struggled with depth of field – that fuzzy, ill defined grey-black caused by my astigmatism.

If I had to sum the company up I’d say they are an ethical, caring and thoroughly professional team. You might want to carry on surfing the net or you might choose to book a consultation with Centre For Sight. I’m glad I did.

As a fund manager I focus on performance and results. I applied the same process in choosing a clinic for my eye laser surgery and I found that the Centre for Sight’s results and track record were both excellent.

My personal experience of the Centre for Sight has also been outstanding - right from the first call through to the initial consultation, the surgery itself and the aftercare. In fact, shortly after surgery I accidentally rubbed my eyes one night and The Centre for Sight immediately arranged a check up that day.

I had been looking into laser eye treatment for years and had not been able to find a surgeon who could improve my left eye anywhere near to the prescription of my glasses. The vision from my left eye was extremely blurred without glasses due to 8 dioptres of astigmatism. I was understandably doubtful when Mr Daya felt he could take on the challenge.

When I first opened my eyes after the operation and read the time on the wall clock, I felt like a child at Christmas. Twenty minutes later, my eyes were tested with amazing results.

Although my footballs skills have not improved, I now do not need to worry about breaking my glasses and this summer was the first time I could confidently take my young children into the waves and swimming pools and be able to keep them safe.

I have also saved a fortune in prescription sunglasses!
