Zyoptix Aspheric is another personalised treatment option available from Bausch & Lomb. It is a simple and effective treatment that helps to preserve the natural aspheric shape of the cornea. The treatment utilises the corneal shape data from the Zyoptix Workstation as well as Iris Registration and Recognition to output a specific and individualised treatment plan for each eye. This treatment is ideal for myopic (short-sighted) patients with aspheric corneas. Corneal shape is evaluated at consultation by the evaluating surgeon and is a consideration when making a decision regarding choice of laser vision correction algorithm. The advanced aspheric treatment is based on the eye’s individual corneal curvature, and uses the eye’s unique characteristics to ensure that the shape of the post-operative cornea aligns closely with the shape of the pre-operative cornea and has the added advantage of eliminating existing spherical aberration too.
Depending on the individual eye, this option may remove 10% more tissue than Tissue Savings IntraLasik and might not be suitable for all. Your Centre for Sight surgeon will based on the information acquired at consultation decide if this option is suitable for you or not.
