the
answer to so many dreams...
Laser
vision correction -
a highly successful
method of correcting long and short
sightedness along
with astigmatism,
works by changing the
shape of the cornea.
More than 20 million
worldwide have undergone
laser vision correction
to free themselves
from glasses and contact
lenses.
Centre
for Sight surgeons have
performed laser vision
correction since 1991
and amongst the first
to perform LASIK in
the UK. Centre for Sight
also introduced IntraLASIK to
the United Kingdom in
2004 a safer and painless
procedure carried out
by our skilled consultants
who are all Fellowship
trained specialists in
Cornea and Refractive
Surgery.
LASIK
is one of the most common
procedures performed
worldwide and in the
right hands and with
the right technology
has a phenomenal success
rate. IntraLASIK takes
safety one step further
by using a LASER (Intralase)
instead of a cutting
device with a blade to
perform the first stage
of the LASIK procedure.
The
Intralase
laser
works
by
firing
1
micron
(1/1000th
of
a
mm)
pulses
into
a
specific
area
in
the
cornea.
These
pulses
exand
to
3
microns
and
in
the
process
separate
the
cornea
in
a
very
precise
and
reproducible
manner. This
level
of
precision
enables
surgeons
to
create
thin
flaps
which
are
planar
(equal
in
dimension
throughout). Thin
