Hospital Update - The Final Countdown

As the new build draws to a close all attention is focused on the buildings finer interior details. With paint on the walls and beautiful oak features throughout, the style and feel of the building has really sprung to life. I couldn't be happier to say we are now moving in early July.

Daily Express: CFS discusses Baby Boomers and alternatives to reading glasses

Sheraz Daya, consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at the Queen Victoria Hospital talks to The Daily Express about what canbe done to eliminate the need for reading glasses in those having problems with increasing age.

NOTHING says you've reached a "certain age" more than having a pair of reading glasses perched on the end of your nose. Yet baby boomers are discarding their spectacles in favour of surgically implanted intraocular lenses (IOLs). These replacement lenses work with the eye muscles to help you focus.

Thalidomide poses new challenges
CFS featured on BBC News

People disabled by the morning-sickness drug, thalidomide, are now facing new health problems as they approach middle age.

A 46-year-old man from Brighton with absent external ears found it particularly difficult when he was told he needed reading glasses.

The consultant to whom he was referred, Sheraz Daya, spent more than a month testing the stability of his patient's vision before using laser technology to correct the sight in the apparently "lazy" eye. The treatment was performed on the NHS at Centre for Sight and the patient is now able to read and function without glasses !
