Implantable contact lenses are a phenomenal option for high levels of correction and those who are not suitable for Laser Vision Correction. The Toric (built in astigmatism) Implantable Contact Lens (ICL) is an option that can be used in those with keratoconus or mild keratoconus as long as good vision can be obtained with glasses and the cornea is stable. Corneas can be stabilised by Collagen Cross Linking. Read the commentary by Nicola Hall who has experienced phenomenal benefit from the Toric ICL.

| Congresses and Presentation |

| Centre for Sight was well represented at the recent World Cornea Congress American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery Conference (ASCRS) held in Boston last month. Results of the Acrillisa Multifocal implants with the correction of astigmatism as well as the Toric Acrillisa Multifocal Implants were presented and well received with considerable interest from the USA where these lenses are not yet available. Both lenses have been in regular use at Centre for Sight over the last four years with phenomenal outcomes, providing most patients with the ability to dispense with glasses altogether for both distance and reading.
Other presentations were considerably more sophisticated and were by invitation only to the World Cornea Congress, where Medical Director Sheraz Daya spoke about innovative surgical approaches to Corneal problems as well as the presentation of the Cornea Society’s new accepted nomenclature on surgical procedures including stem cell transplants for repair of the eye surface. All presentations will be submitted for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
