Your eye and vision are like your fingerprint – distinct and personal. They are distinctive because light is scattered unevenly to form a pattern that is unique to your eye, and dependent on a number of factors including your overall corneal shape. The Zywave aberrometer measures the eye's unique wavefront map and in addition to refractive error (short-sight, far-sight and astigmatism), picks up fine aberrations that are unique to your eye. The wavefront is “dissected” using a mathematical process and broken down into a number of components which are analysed. These High Order Abnormalities (HOA) are evaluated against a normal range and used in the decision making process.
Zyoptix Wavefront LASIK treatments are useful for treating unusual prescriptions, large pupils, high levels of correction and high levels of astigmatism. In such cases, the advantage of Zyoptix Wavefront treatment is that treatment is limited to the area that needs correcting and is therefore more precise. Combined with Iris Registration, this ensures accurate treatment delivery.
How does it work?
Zyoptix Wavefront is used with three-dimensional topography from the Orbscan IIz to plan a treatment tailor-made to your needs. Planning is conducted through the Zyoptix Treatment Planner. Your surgeon will evaluate all options and make the best decision for your eyes. The treatment planner does a virtual simulation of your wavefront treatment and the surgeon looks at what your corneal shape is likely to be after the procedure to ensure it will be correct and beneficial. The Advanced Nomogram is used to introduce fudge factors to further enhance outcomes.
