SHORTSIGHT(Myopia)

Shortsight is a restriction in ability to focus on distance. It is caused by the eye being too short and/or the cornea being too curved. Shortsightedness is indicated by a negative prescription. Far-sighted Astigmatisms IntraLASIK

By using a highly specialised laser to flatten the cornea a surgeon is able to bring the image forward to the inside surface of the retina and thus corrects the patients vision. IntraLASIK is capable of correcting all levels or correction up to -15 diopters. However patients with vision above -15 would still benefit from surgery with their prescriptions being reduced to around -4 diopters.

A thorough consultation is required prior to surgery. However there are a number of other criteria that a suitable candidate requires. eye too short

  • Healthy eyes with no disease
  • No abnormalities in coreal shape (e.g. keratoconus)
  • Prescription within the range of correction
  • Do not have a profoundly lazy eye (amblyopia)
  • Are not pregnant or nursing
  • Are in good general health
