Corneal Clarity Index
A measure of how transparent the cornea is. Reduced clarity may indicate swelling, scarring or early disease.
Corneal Transplant
Surgical replacement of part or all of a damaged cornea.
Cataract
Clouding of the eye’s natural lens, causing blurred vision and glare.
Corneal Abrasion
A corneal abrasion is a scratch on the eye’s surface layer, usually from injury or foreign bodies. It typically heals quickly but can be very uncomfortable.
Corneal Dystrophy
Corneal dystrophies are inherited conditions affecting the clarity or structure of the cornea. They often progress slowly and may affect both vision and comfort.
Corneal Erosion
Corneal erosion occurs when the eye’s surface cells do not adhere properly and break down. This can lead to sudden pain, watering and light sensitivity.
Corneal Haze
Corneal haze is clouding or scarring that reduces visual clarity. It may occur after surgery, inflammation or trauma.
Conjunctivitis
Conjunctivitis is inflammation of the thin membrane covering the white of the eye. It may be caused by infection, allergy or irritation.
Cornea
The cornea is the clear, curved front surface of the eye that helps focus light onto the retina. It plays a central role in laser eye surgery because reshaping the cornea can correct refractive errors.
