Centre for Sight organized its 16th Optometric Education Day on 4th October 2016 at its award winning state-of-art East Grinstead hospital.
Attended by optometrists and opticians from across the country and across Europe the course is free of charge thanks to generous sponsorship from the industry, including, Staar Surgical, Scope Ophthalmics, Bausch & Lomb, Birmingham Optical, Rayner and Carl Zeiss- Meditec.
Centre for Sight has held successful Optometric Education days since 2000. Surgeons Mr. Sheraz Daya, Ms. Marcela Espinosa, Ms. Lucia Pelosini and visiting specialists Prof Tom Williamson and Mr. Raman Malhotra presented topics on Oculoplastics, Keratoconus, Corneal transplantation, Laser cataract surgery, premium intraocular lenses as well as laser eye surgery and implantable contact lenses.
The highlight of the day is when Centre for Sight was 3D LIVE surgery of Femtosecond Laser Cataract Surgery, bilateral implantable contact lens (ICL) surgery and Lasik Laser Eye Surgery performed by Mr. Sheraz Daya. This provides the viewer with the surgeon’s view and provides good understanding of the intricacies and processes in modern ocular surgery.
