Do I need to wear an eye patch after cataract surgery?

A protective eye shield is usually worn for the first night and sometimes during the daytime for the first day or two to prevent accidental rubbing of the eye during sleep or inadvertent contact. Your surgeon will advise on exactly how long the shield should be worn based on your individual procedure.
