GET RID OF READING GLASSES – SUPRACOR – Laser eye surgery – UK’s first patients undergo this Laser eye surgery at the Centre for Sight. Surgery performed by Sheraz Daya, Medical Director. This procedure corrects DISTANCE, INTERMEDIATE & NEAR vision in both eyes simultaneously. This is completely different from Monovision aka “Blended Vision”.

Centre for Sight’s Clinical Service Manager was the 2nd patient to undergo correction and was delighted at being able to read 20/15 at near 15 mins after surgery. The next day she had excellent DISTANCE, INTERMEDIATE and NEAR vision.

A patient with Keratoconus undergoing an innovative corneal transplant — a Deep Anterior Lamellar Keratoplasty (DALK) using the Intralase femtosecond laser. The procedure: Femtosecond Deep Anterior Lamellar Keratoplasty (FSDALK) is an innovation by Sheraz Daya and uses a “Zag-Square” configuration on both the donor and host to ensure a perfect fit and biomechanical strength. The patient in this video 6 weeks later had 6/12 unaided vision!

Femtosecond Laser Deep Anterior Lamellar Keratoplasty

This Centre for Sight innovation uses a laser to perform a partial thickness corneal transplant. The Zag-square pattern developed at Centre for Sight is very useful for those who have conditions like Keratoconus. The presentation illustrates the advantages of the technique which includes rapid vision rehabilitation and a mechanically strong and a very stable wound.

This video won the “Best of the Show Award” at the American Academy of Ophthalmology 2009. Three methods of corneal tattooing to improve cosmetic appearance of the eye are described. All are intra-lamellar techniques and use India Ink as a dye within the corneal stroma. The techniques were all devised and performed by Sheraz Daya, Medical Director at Centre for Sight, UK.
