Let’s Speak Lenspeak
Cataract and Refractive Surgery Today CRSTEurope published an article by Sheraz Daya Centre for Sight Medical Director on the need for establishing a new language and terminology for high performance lenses.
The ultimate goal is to have universal and simplified terminology supported by all stakeholders, in particular patients. Currently with so many different abbreviations and labels being used to market lenses, ophthalmologists themselves are confused and have difficulties in understanding what might be best for patients.
Mr Daya a board member of the American European Congress of Ophthalmic Surgery leads a working group of 5 surgeons tasked with establishing terminology. A white paper on the topic should be completed before the end of the year and set standards and easy to understand language for ophthalmologists, manufacturers and patients.
