Back Behind the Wheel: Thanks to Life-Changing Laser Eye Surgery
For many people, poor vision isn’t just an inconvenience, it’s also a barrier to their independence. For one of our recent patients, deteriorating eyesight meant giving up one of the freedoms most of us take for granted: driving.
Legally, drivers in the UK must be able to read a number plate from 20 metres away. But for this patient, even strong prescription glasses couldn’t bring things into clear focus. Her vision had declined to the point where she no longer felt safe, or legally able, to drive.
“I didn’t realise there was better care out there and found you”
Miss J.H, Hove, East Sussex, Laser Eye Surgery Patient
More than a decade earlier, our patient had sought out laser eye surgery, only to be told by another clinic that she wasn’t suitable and should wait for the Implantable Contact Lenses (ICLs) procedure. When she finally revisited treatment years later, she was then told that she wasn’t suitable for ICL either, and further advised to wait until age 50 for Lens Replacement surgery. But with her confidence shaken and her independence restricted, she knew she couldn’t afford to wait any longer.
After hearing the story of another Centre for Sight patient, Chloe, who had a complex prescription and had also been turned away elsewhere, she decided to reach out.
A New Perspective with Centre for Sight
At Centre for Sight, we take pride in approaching each case as truly unique. Using some of the most advanced diagnostic tools in the UK and decades of clinical expertise, we carefully reassessed her situation and found a safe, effective solution.
After extensive testing using up to 16 diagnostic machines, our team determined she was in fact a candidate for laser eye surgery. Thanks to the expertise of Medical Director, Mr. Sheraz Daya and the battery of testing and diagnosis, she underwent successful treatment and achieved vision even clearer than she imagined possible.
The results have been life-changing. Not only did she regain confidence in her sight, she is now considering returning to driving, something she thought might never be possible again.
