Miss Pei-Fen Lin is a Consultant Ophthalmic surgeon at Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS foundation trust in London. After graduating from Cambridge University and King’s College London for Medicine, she completed her postgraduate training in London in 2017.

About

Miss Pei-Fen Lin is trained in cataract surgery, oculoplastics, neuro-ophthalmology and medical eye. She currently leads the cataract, general ophthalmology and emergency eye care services at Moorfields Eye Centre at Croydon, the main cataract surgery trainer for the junior surgeons.

In addition to clinical practice, she has keen interest in digital health innovation and design, she is the clinical lecturer at UCL for biomedical entrepreneurship and the Clinical Director of Digital Innovations for the Department of Digital Medicine at Moorfields.

Dry eye is a common condition where the eyes do not produce enough tears, or the tears evaporate too quickly, leading to irritation, redness, and discomfort.

Flashes and Floaters

Flashes and floaters are visual disturbances caused by changes in the vitreous gel inside the eye, often appearing as streaks of light or small moving spots, and may require prompt assessment to rule out retinal problems.

Education and Training

Miss Pei-Fen Lin undertook her medical training at Cambridge University, where she completed her undergraduate Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts (Cantab) degrees, before earning her MBBS from King’s College London. She then completed her postgraduate ophthalmology training in the London Deanery, graduating as a specialist ophthalmic surgeon in 2017. Miss Lin was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (FRCOphth) and holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Digital Health Leadership from Imperial College London. In addition to her clinical qualifications, she is a member of the Faculty of Clinical Informatics, reflecting her interest in the intersection of eye care and digital innovation. She currently serves as a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at Moorfields Eye Hospital, leading the cataract, general ophthalmology and emergency eye care services, and holds academic roles including Honorary Lecturer at University College London.
