What does it take to spend more than three decades at the forefront of eye surgery, and still be looking ahead to what comes next?
Our Founder, Chairman and Medical Director, Mr Sheraz Daya, recently joined John Ferris and Dermot Keogh on the Eyes on Tomorrow podcast for a fascinating conversation about his career, the evolution of eye surgery and the technologies that continue to transform patient care.
In the episode, he reflects on the challenges of being an early adopter of LASIK, developments in cataract and refractive surgery, the potential of stem cell transplantation and some of the technologies that could shape the future of eye care.
Sheraz’s journey has taken him around the world and placed him at the heart of some significant developments in modern ophthalmology, from performing the UK’s first LASIK procedure in 1994 to introducing femtosecond laser technology to the UK in 2004.
