A Day in the life of Imberhone A Level students at Centre for Sight
After hosting East Grinstead Business Association (EGBA) Buzz Meet back in April, we were delighted to be contacted by Imberhone School about the exciting prospect of providing A level students interested in pursuing careers in the medical sector the opportunity to spend a day with our staff and observe how we take our patients throughout their vision correction and vision restoration journey with us.
The students enjoyed the chance to put on operating theatre scrubs and observe LIVE eye procedures like Laser Lens Replacement (LLR), Laser Eye Surgery and Cataract surgery. This helped them to get an insight into how a very modern hospital functions.
A bonus was being able to observe cutting-edge technology and techniques used by our professional consultants and medical staff. The students were shown around our East Grinstead centre by ophthalmic consultant Ms Marcela Espinosa who also using schematic videos illustrated the process of surgery and what was involved prior to watching surgery in the operating theatre.
The students who all want to head to medical school watched a number of procedures being performed by Mr. Sheraz Daya, Medical Director of Centre for Sight.

One of the students was excited to know how our patients reacted after they had Cataract surgery. She was amazed to see the process of cataract removal under 10 minutes and how efficient the process is in the 21st century.

Laser eye surgery for vision correction as well as Cataract and Laser Lens Replacement have come a long way in the last 20 years as a result of technological advances making treatment faster and more accurate
