Professor Hasa Mlawa from Tanzania was nervous and feared the end of his career prior to Laser Cataract surgery. In addition to having his vision restored, he is now glasses-free and has his professional confidence back once again!
Professor Mlawa was treated by Medical Director Mr Sheraz Daya, and has been delighted with results of his Laser Cataract Surgery with Trifocal lenses and shared his thoughts with us.
What was your vision like before cataract surgery?
Prior to my surgery, I could hardly see, read and write. This eroded my confidence as a University Professor. I was so nervous and scared as my vision was terrible and it was jeopardising my career. I feared that this was the end of my professional career as a University Professor. I could not read and write properly; I could not see, conduct research, carry out consultancy work, or deliver professional executive training programs etc. Every aspect of my work was under threat.

What is your vision like now?
I had Laser Cataract Surgery at Centre for Sight. Now my vision is perfect. It is better than I can possibly describe, and I do not use glasses anymore!
I can now see fine print, read without visual aids and can write properly. I can competently and confidently carry out my duties of teaching, researching, supervising graduate research work, carrying out consultancy and outreach work, and deliver professional executive training programs etc. I have regained my confidence as a University Professor.

What was your experience like at Centre for Sight?
Centre for Sight came across as thorough and professional. Extremely competent staff in all departments with a strong human touch under the able leadership of the its Medical Director – Mr Sheraz Daya. I felt safe to go through with my treatment as I was kept informed of all stages along the way. It was a wonderful experience!
